Real Live Cowboy...?

In my classroom I have parent volunteers, whom I love by the way, and one of "my dads" walked in on Monday morning and said that his daughter came home on Friday and said that there had been a "real live" cowboy in school. We had a little chuckle over her choice of words, but it got me thinking, what makes a cowboy real? I come from a family of real live cowboys, so to me it is someone who can ride, rope, work cattle, brand, fix their own machinery with
duct tape and bailing twine and do their own doctorin' of animals. But I believe that some people think that if one wears wranglers, boots and a hat then they must be a cowboy. That is not so (in my book). There is nothing more irritating than someone wearing skintight Wal-Mart Wranglers, plastic pointed-toe boots and some cheap drug store hat. I believe that it is a hard earned right to be called a cowboy. The life of a cowboy is not an easy one and I know that from personal experience and family history. So, I say "hats off" to those who have earned the right to be called a Real Live Cowboy!
Have a great night all!

Very Fun!!

I know that you are all wondering about the GS concert...it was even more than I could have imagined. Like I mentioned on Friday the tickets that we had were 4th row ON THE FLOOR. When he first came out onto the stage he walked right over to our side and I made my way to the first row and was about 10 feet from King George himself. Yes, I will say it again: 10 FEET and he looked at me. We had a moment between us!
Along with going to the concert of a life time, my dad went to work with me on Friday morning. He was wonderful and the kids loved him (what's not to love though?)! They read to him and he read to them. He helped with an art project. It was just a great day. It was also a fun week-end with him. We have made it an annual event for him to come out every year and it is such a sweet precious time that we share together. He leaves tomorrow morning and I'm afraid that he will have to go home and rest-up from his vacation.
I hope that everyone had a great weed-end!

Eye Candy!

Happy Birthday to me! Although my birthday is not until February, my dad flew out last night from South Dakota and we are going to the George Strait concert tonight. We have 4th row on the floor tickets and I am super excited to say the least! I have seen George in concert before, but to my opinion,no one can get enough of him. I will let everyone know how it goes.

Y U M M Y ! ! ! !

Well, you all will be happy to know that I finally finished my 60 report cards. They were due to go home today and I got the last one done about 3:00. Just in time to stuff into backpacks at 3:15!! While doing report cards this quarter, I diagnosed myself with "avoidence behavior disorder" otherwise known as ABD! I did about everything else but my work. My classroom is dusted, my desk cleaned off and organized, all my emails caught up, returned all my phone calls from the past 3 months or so, updated my address book, my nail cuticles are nicely pushed down and list goes on. The main thing I did though, was eat guacamole...I love that stuff!! I love the color, texture and taste. If anyone has a tasty, but easy to make guacamole recipe, I would love it. Also, if anyone else suffers from ABD, I would like to know.
Goodnight all!!

I Dare You

Today at church was our kick off Sunday for a faith and fund raising campaign. Rick Blue was the speaker and did a great job. One of the main things that spoke to me today was the song that Rob sang, "Dare You to Move" The words to the chorus really hit home:

I dare you to move

I dare you to move

I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor

I dare you to move

I dare you to move

Like today never happened

Today never happened before

The last few weeks in my little world have been rocked and this song was a good reminder that I have the choice to pick myself up and move forward and look toward the future with great anticipation to what God is doing and going to do in my life.

P.S. I am still working on report cards!

That time again...?!

It seems like I just finished the first quarter of report cards and it is time to do it again. Not my favorite time of year...oh, well! This is something that comes with the job of being a teacher, but if we are being totoally(totally) honest, I dislike it. A LOT!! In my perfect little world, I think it would just be easier to contact the parent if there was an issue with academics or socail(social) behavior and just not do report cards.
Well, enough complaining. I need to get back to work on them so I can leave work at a decent time. Have a great Friday afternoon everyone!

Yummy

Right now my favorite plug-in scent for my home is "Creamy Nutmeg" from Bath and Body. It is perfect for the winter time, very cozy and homey. It reminds me of walking into my grandma's house while she was baking. Goodnight all!!

No Recess!!

It has been COLD here in Idaho the past few days. Becasue of the cold temps and wind chill our principal has cancelled recess until it gets a little warmer. I understand not having recess because of the weather, but good golly being in a room full (30) of 5 year olds who haven't gotten to play outside for a few days is crazy!! My room looked like a war zone today after school. I can't wait for the weather to warm up! I am happy to be home watching the next season of American Idol. Hopefullly it will "snap" me out of the no recess winter blahs!

The Day Off!!

There is nothing better than waking up on a cold, winter Monday morning and realizing that I don't have to go to work!! One of the best things about it is that I don't have to take a shower right away. I can curl up on my couch and snuggle with a cozy blanket and the next book I'm reading for book club. I have to say that I have some horrible, crazy morning hair...it makes me giggle sometimes. Sometimes I wonder why guys aren't flocking to me and the beauty I possess in my hair! Oh well, it is there loss I guess. Happy Monday everyone.

I feel Wicked!

While I was in New York City, I was able to get to mark off an item on my "to do list" before I die. I got to attend one of the most popular shows on Broadway. My friend and I went to the show "Wicked." Our names were drawn from a raffle and we got two front and center row tickets. It was truly amazing and not anything I will ever forget. The costumes were spectacular, the music was fantastic and the atmosphere was unforgetable. I am truly greateful for the experience. I am now excited to read the book. The story line is the Wizard of Oz from the viewpoint of the Wicked Witch. I would also recommend the CD.

Total Comfort

There is nothing better than coming home on a cold night and taking a HOT shower. I had the much needed opportunity to do that tonight and after my shower I got to curl up in my down comforter. I don't know what I did before I had my down comforter. I seriously love that thing. I also like the "Unwind" product from Arbonne. It is amazing how the essential oils and great scent can relax and destress me; not to mention make my skin feel great!

My Destiny

Every decision and choice in my life has led me to this point. I am entering into the world of blogging. I am in the game and not on the sidelines. It's official. This is my life, in color. Come back, visit often.
