plain. and. ordinary.

What do the above words mean to you? After today, I will think of them in a different way. I was told that some of my pictures on my blog made me look plain and ordinary (non-photogenic). Now, in defense of this person, I did ask their opnion and they gave it...holding nothing back. They later did a good job of explaining to me what they meant, but it got me thinking. How often do I make judgments on people solely on looks and without getting to know them and their personality and/or story? I let it happen more than I realize and I need to take the time to get to know a person and not just make a decision on an outward appearance.

Thank you C.R. for making me think about how I treat people.

PLAIN? ORDINARY? Whoever said such a thing has no idea WHO you are!! A picture does not always say a thousand words. You can't see your contaigous laughter in a picture, nor can you feel your vivrant spirit and the warmth of your friendship. You don't see the love of what you do and how you give back to those around you. Your pictures show how FUN you are!! You are anything but "plain and ordinary" a.c. The pictures along with your postings represent who and what you are about, just a very small piece of yourself. Whoever said, "plain and ordinary" with your name attached, better re-think that statement quick. :)

This is a very interresting subject. I would have to disagree with the statement that your blog pics make you look plain and ordinary. I absolutley LOVE to look at your blog pictures because it shows you being you in every day situations. No one can always be showing their fun/energetic side. A picture says so many things. I often look at pictures and wonder 'what are they thinking right now?' what are they doing? who are they with? and so much more! It is a good reminder, though, not to pre-judge people. Some of the most quiet people are the most wise. Some of the ones who are energetic etc are ones who make people comfortable! I am realizing more and more that God made each of us uniquely different and that that's ok. Keep posting you in every day life! That's what is so fun...you being you!!

I would never describe you as plain or ordinary when looking at your pictures. I think the picture of you in your yellow shirt makes you glow...and is beautiful by the way. I think you got one person's opinion, but the majority would say that you sparkle in your pictures. I think the bigger lesson is to take people's opinions really lightly...three people drastically disagree with that one person's opinion.

you are anything but plain and ordinary! but then again, you asked for an opinion....about a few pictures. i guess the next pictures you post you should have someone capture you singing and worshipping God, spending time with your friends jumping up laughing, teaching and interacting with all the children you work with everyday, riding on your bike with the wind behind you and the sun on your face....being anything but...ordinary.

Oh yes...ordinary...You have way too much fun. The photos show it. As for "judging a book by it's cover"...everyone does that no matter what. We always do...and not realize we are.
I will have to send you a copy of my most recent essay for 101. I need to edit one part for content...for you. Maybe, it has much more of an effect if I leave it. It's a pet peeve of mine...when people know that they are labeling someone. Anyway! No! You are not ordinary!m Oh, and did you know Da Vinci didn't paint eye-browes on the Mona Lisa...could that be the reason she has the mysterious smile? Hmmm...
